Tomorrow is week 3 already? Time flies! With so many upcoming events and updates, do take some time off and have a good read on what’s happening around Cambs: from food food food (MFF and IFF) to games, formals, talent shows,  interviews, and more!

 1. iCUSU World Food Festival

Joined by around 15 international societies, International Food Festival is an event where you get the opportunity to try a wide range of authentic food from around the world IN ONE GO. Time to get excited!! But before pampering yourself with mouth-watering food, here is some important information you need to know.

Each society will have a stall and food can only be bought by pre-purchased coupons. The time and location of the coupon sales are to be confirmed (likely to be 25th and 26th in front of CUSU building). If you miss it, they are still available at the door during the event. £1 entrance fee per person will be collected in the latter case.

Location: Baptist Church, St Andrews Streets 
Time: Sat. 1st November 18:00-21:00

You will only be admitted in one of the two time slots. The first one is 18:00-19:30 and the second one is 19:30-21:00. You can choose your slot if you get coupons prior to our event.

However, we are working on getting more tickets, so anyone who still hasn’t signed up, please feel free to do so and we’ll put you on the waiting list. Malaysian Food Festival 2014

Great news! Malaysian Food Festival (MFF) is back once again for 2014 on 15th November.Join us in enjoying the rich and exotic flavours of local favourites as MFF will showcase the colourful and vibrant Malaysian culture in the way we know best : through our food!

Begin your food adventure this November and explore, or perhaps rediscover the Malaysian in you!

5. Mock Interview

Thank you everyone for showing your support for this initiative. We have successfully interviewed and advised 24 students from subjects including Engineering, Nat Sci, Mathematics, Education and Law! 

The actual interviews will be conducted from 25 – 27th October, let us wish our potential Cambridge colleagues all the best and good luck! 😀

 6. Scintillate Talent Show

CCS Annual Scintillate is now open for audition! It is designed to be an unforgettable night not only for those singers, but everyone. 

This year’s Scintillate will be held at
Fitzwilliam College Auditoriam 
on 15th November (Saturday)

We want not only competitive singers, but also those who wish to perform on the stage in a more relaxing way. Your band, your dancing group, any forms of performance, we want you! 
PS. We welcome songs in any languages. Don’t be shy 

Auditions now open for the following:
1. Competitive Singer (person or group)
Please prepare 2 songs with background music (or you can have someone playing instrumental background music for you, or even a band)
2. Hosts & Hostess
3. Dance performer (person or group)
4. Singing performer (person or group)
5. Instrument performer (please bring your own music instrument)

Date: 25th & 26th Oct (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 1pm- 5:30pm 
Location: Newnham college, Barbara White room
Note: Each slot is 15-min long, therefore we suggest you arrive 10 mins earlier for preparation

 7. CUCOS Advert

CUCOS is recruiting for Western musical instrument players!

 

Do you have a penchant for Chinese music and know how to play a Chinese/Western musical instrument? Then you are what we are looking for!

 

We are Cambridge University Chinese Orchestra Society (CUCOS), the largest Chinese orchestra in Europe. We aim to deliver a new musical perspective to the community in the UK and sharing oriental music. The Society consists of a Chinese Instrument Division (CID) and a Western Instrument Division (WID).

 

Now, we are recruiting for WESTERN MUSICAL INSTRUMENT PLAYERS of ALL skill levels.NO audition is needed!

 

WID rehearsals take place every Sunday 2-5pm at Newnham College Old Lab. We will be practicing Dance of Yao (瑶族舞曲) this year. Music sheets will be provided.

 

*Notice: rehearsal for this week will take place on Saturday (25th Oct), not on Sunday. Time and venue remain unchanged. From next week, it will return to normal. See you all soon!!
