1. Malaysian Food Feast Correction and Volunteering Updates
In the previous newsletter, there was a erroneous piece of information where we said the Malaysian Food Feast (MFF) is coming up on the Saturday, 18th November. This should instead be Sunday, 18th November. Apologies if this caused any inconvienience.
As an aside, we have enough volunteers for the event and have closed the sign-up form for volunteers. If you’ve already signed up to volunteer, you should be receiving (or have already received) an e-mail from an MFF team leader soon with more details.

It’s here at last! Our flagship event of Michaelmas: the ever-wonderful, mouth-watering Malaysian Food Feast! Featuring the very best of Malaysian Food, this is sure to be a delicious and hopefully-not-too-fattening evening of nostalgia.

—Note: ABACUS is offering CUMaS members tickets for the boat party at ABACUS member prices (an £8 savings!) as long as more than 10 CUMaS members purchase tickets. If you would like to get this discount, please do the following:
- Sign up at the link below for the Boat Party by noon, Thursday, 15th November. In the dietary requirements box, put (in addition to your dietary requirements) "CUMAS". For ticket purposes, put yourself down as a non-member.
- To simplify payments (avoiding refunds, etc.), please don’t pay yet.
We will send out another e-mail by Friday to confirm if enough we have enough people for the discount. Please pay by Sunday, 18th November though.—
Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, LSE and KCL ABACUS are pleased to present to you the 2012 Boat Party – this year with a HOLLYWOOD twist!
As the theme suggests, we will be transforming the night into Hollywood on the River Thames so we expect guests to arrive in their most elegant dress ready to walk down the red carpet on to the Dixie Queen luxury liner.
The upper deck will be focused on dancing throughout the night. You can expect:
- A waltz session to kick the evening off with style
- Massive tunes from our own DJ Dangerous, as the entire floor is transformed into a club for the rest of the night
The lower deck will exhibit a more elegant and chilled atmosphere where you will be met with:
- Chocolate Fountains
- Popcorn
- Live Band from KCL
- Magic Performance
- Jazz Music by a Saxophonist
- Hollywood Photo Booth with a Professional Photographer
- Chinese Calligraphy Stall
… and more aboard the Dixie Queen with the awe-inspiring views of London at night from the Thames.
