6. Festival of Diversity IX (Cardiff University)

Dear Esteemed Member of the Supreme Council,

There is a land far far away – in a time almost lost to us – where loyalty holds precedence over all other human qualities. It was a time where brotherhood was formed through trials and tribulations. A time where fighting skills were still an art and a time, where love was pure.

A time we would like to welcome you to…

Ladies and gentlemen, the award winning Malaysian Students’ Society of Cardiff University (MSSCF) proudly presents its most eagerly awaiting flagship event:

Festival of Diversity IX: ‘Pahlawan the Musical, a Tale of a Malayan Warrior’

Crowned as Cardiff University’s ‘Best Musical Performance’ & runner-up of ‘Best Cultural Event’ 2011, we have decided to scale up of our event by holding it at St. David’s Hall, Wales’s largest performing arts venue. In it’s 9th edition, Malaysian history comes alive, as the legend of Hang Tuah takes to the stage in a full-scale musical:

“Courage, honour, loyalty and justice. A tale of brotherhood, love and betrayal,

set in the waning years of the Malaccan Sultanate. The heroic Laksamana Hang Tuah and dauntless Hang Jebat – together an unstoppable force – face their ultimate test when Sultan Mahmud desires the hand of a fair princess. Tuah is assigned to win her over. Alas, unexpected feelings arise! Will Tuah sacrifice his love to fulfill his duty to the Throne? Will the bond between the brothers shatter when Tuah’s loyalty wars with Jebat’s sense of righteousness?”

Details of the event

Date: 11 February 2012
Time: 8.00pm
Venue: St. David’s Hall, Cardiff
Ticket price: £12
Dress code: Traditional costume or formal attire
